World Photographic Cup Selection 2023 Team Australia

The World Photographic Cup (the world’s Olympics of Photography) has just announced its country selections for 2023 and I am very proud to have been included once again in Team Australia. In 2021 I was fortunate to take out the Silver medal in the Nature category with my photograph of an Emperor Penguin family and then in 2022 I again took out the Silver medal in the Nature category with my photograph of the Snowy Owl titled “Phantom of the Opera”. For 2023, my photograph of the Polar Bear backlit in winter golden light on a fresh seal kill will represent team Australia in the Nature / Wildlife category. This will be my fifth time representing Australia at the World Photographic cup. To date, I have garnered a Bronze and two Silver medals. To check out all the team Australia entrants check out Team Australia’s website HERE. The winning images in the WPC will be announced live on the 19th of March 2023. Best of luck to all entrants!

Departing Punta Arenas for the Emperor Penguins 2022

Our first weather window has arrived! And as soon as I finish this early morning post my group is going to be making its way to the airport for our private charter flight down to Union Glacier in Antarctica. From there we will assess conditions and look for a second weather window to fly by Twin Otter (about three and a half hours) out to the sea ice at Gould Bay where the Emperors will be waiting for us. The eve of the departure of any expedition is an incredibly exciting time and I am thrilled to be heading back to the Emperors in Antarctica. My hope of course is we get some incredibly dramatic conditions out at the colony. Bring on the blowing snow! See you on the return. Note: I will be offline until our return to Punta Arenas.
