Capture Food and Travel Magazine Polar Photography Feature 2023

The latest December issue of Capture Food and Travel magazine contains a feature on my Polar Photography. This is the first time I have been featured in this magazine. You can download the feature Article HERE.

In the extreme latitudes of the Polar environment, photographer Joshua Holko has been to the world’s farthest, snow-covered landscapes to capture some of its rarest and most unique creatures. From Antarctica and Canada to Iceland and Norway, the models found – be it reindeer or polar bears – are as stunning as their icy wilderness.

Polar Bears and Ice Landscapes of Eastern Greenland 2024 and 2025 Sold Out

Both my 2024 and 2025 expeditions to the East Coast of Greenland in Winter via dog sled to photograph Polar Bears and Ice Landscapes are now Sold Out – Thank you. For those of you who have expressed interest in future expeditions to Greenland in Winter, I will have dates for 2026 and beyond soon. In the meantime, I have now returned to Ushuaia from an absolutely incredible Antarctic expedition that included several encounters with Emperor Penguins in the Weddell Sea! I will have a full trip report in due course, along with a well-overdue Podcast (yes, another late Podcast). Look for both of those later this month (December 2023). In the meantime, I am now on my way to Easter Island for a few days of rest and relaxation over the Christmas break.

Canon EOS Magazine Feature Article January 2024 Plus Cover Shot!

The latest January-March 2024 edition of Canon UK’s EOS magazine has just been released and features one of my photographs of a wild grey Wolf from Finland on the front cover, as well as a feature article on my career and life as a Polar photographer and many of my photographs from the Polar regions. This is the first time I have been published in EOS magazine. Winning the cover of any magazine is always an honour and a thrill. As a lifelong Canon shooter, ambassador and advocate, taking the cover shot for EOS magazine is the icing on the cake. I am particularly delighted that they chose one of my wolf photographs from northern Finland – a place that I love returning to as often as I can to photograph these elusive wild animals. EOS Magazine is available both as a digital and/or physical subscription.

Setting Sail for the Antarctic Peninsula December 2023

After a few days of logistical long-haul travel, it is now time to depart for Antarctica, set sail down the Beagle Channel, out into the notorious Drake Passage, and make our way to the miracle of Antarctica. This will be my last post until I return on the 21st of December. If you are trying to contact me during this time, please be patient, and I will get back to you as soon as I return. We are off to play with the penguins!

World Photographic Cup Team Australia Representation 2024

The World Photographic Cup (the world’s Olympics of Photography) has just announced its country selections for 2024, and I am very proud to have been included once again in Team Australia. This will be my seventh time representing Australia at the WPC and I am deeply honoured to have been selected again to represent my country in these prestigious awards. To date, I have garnered a Bronze and two Silver medals at the WPC. In 2015, I took out the Bronze medal in the reportage category with a photograph of penguins on the sea ice in Antarctica. Then, in 2021 and 2022, I took out Silver medals in the Nature category for my photographs of the Emperor Penguin family and the Snowy Owl ‘Phantom of the Opera’. For 2024, my photograph of the Pallas cat in reeds will represent Australia. The full Team Australia list below includes the relevant categories.
