Photograph of the Month April 2025 – Alone in the White

The photograph of the month for April 2025 comes from my recent back-to-back workshops for Arctic fox in the far north west of Iceland in Winter this year (Read the Trip Reports). This white-morph fox was wonderfully co-operative for our group, posing on the clean snow for us for quite some minutes before disappearing over the mountains. What particularly appeals to me about this photograph is the soft blowing snow around the feet of the fox, the curled tail and of course the moment of mid yawn.

WNPP Episode 119 Nature as Art Book Review by Alex Pansier

I have just published episode 119 of my Wild Nature Photography Podcast. In this episode, I review photographer Alex Pansier’s new book Nature as Art and discuss the release of my new short film – Arctic Survivors. Edit: Slight correction: this book’s purchase price is 89 Euro, not 60 Euro as referred to in the podcast. I also omitted a discussion surrounding the print quality (jetlag at my end). Rest assured, the print quality is outstanding for a matt paper with deep inky blacks and clean crisp highlights.

I am leaving for Svalbard in a few hours time so updates may be a little sporadic and thin over the coming few weeks.

Puffins and Razor Bills of Grimsey Island 2025 Workshop Sold Out

The last two places on our Wild Nature Photo Travel workshop to Grimsey Island this year, 2025, in the far north of Iceland for Puffins and Razor bills have now been spoken for and the workshop is sold out – thank you. We are looking forward to photographing these amazing birds under the midnight sun in one of the most remote and spectacular places in Iceland. It has been some years since I was last in Grimsey island, but I am really excited to return to for another go at the ‘warp-speed’ Puffins with Canon’s new R1 mirrorless cameras.
