Some time ago, I created a set of ISO Specific Noise Reduction pre-sets for the Canon EOS 1DXMK3 and the Canon EOS R3. These pre-sets have since been downloaded, tested and adopted by many other Canon 1DXMK3 and R3 users as their working defaults. The significant analysis and work invested in creating these was absolutely worthwhile, and the pre-sets have been a great time saver for me and others in the field. The feedback we have received to date on our work in this area has been fantastic, and some of it is included below – Thank you.
“Josh, your Noise Pre-sets are game-changing and the best I have found and used to date. Thank you”
“Josh, I recently purchased and downloaded your Noise Reduction Pre-sets for the Cannon EOS R3 and I have to say they are phenomenal. Will you please produce a set for the Canon EOS R5?”
“Hi Josh, Just wanted to say your nose presets for the EOS 1DXMK3 are amazing. Keep up the incredible work.”
A set of pre-sets for the Canon EOS R5 (and now the EOS R5 MK2) has been requested for a long time now. The good news is that I received the new Canon EOS R5 MK2 a week ago and have been busy analysing its RAW files and test chart shots in great detail to create a set of optimised ISO Specific Noise Reduction Pre-sets specific to the R5 MK2. The analysis is almost complete, and for those of you who have written to me (thank you) asking when these might be available, I am pleased to let you know they should be finished in the next few days. The creation of optimised pre-sets takes a considerable amount of time and energy. In addition, I like to work in the mornings when my eyes are at their very best – this means multiple sessions across multiple days to produce the best possible analysis. I will update the blog with a link to purchase and download as soon as possible.
Podcast Update: Yes! I promise there will be a podcast episode this week.

Aloha Josh,
I probably missed it. Do you have a review of the R5 Mark II so that I would know whether to upgrade from the R5?

Hi John, I have not done a review of the R5 as yet – but experience with the camera shows little advantage to the R5MK2 when it comes to noise.

Many thanks! However, how to do, there is only one preset possible to choose on import, but 2 needed (your noise one and the one with lens corrections etc.). thanks again

Ahh Yes, I understand what you mean. That correct. You can only apply one pre-set on import as far as I know.

Hi, I like your great LR classic noise profiles and would be interested in the R5II ones, especially using them on import. For RAWs, it is important at important also to set the e.g. lens corrections etc. Thus, it is possible to combine e.g. lens corrections and noise presets at import? many thanks!!
