Self Isolation Day Five – Russian Wolf

Day five of mandatory self isolation includes a photograph I made in September last year on my northern Finland workshop (Read the Trip Report) and is of a young wolf emerging from the forest in no man’s land between Finland and Russia. We were extremely fortunate to have incredible encounters with this pack of young wolves over several days. Using hides positioned with special permission in no mans land between Finland and Russia the wolves put on a fantastic show for us over a period of several days. Most of the activity occurred late in the day / early evening so we tended to focus our efforts at this time of day.

The photograph was taken hand held with the Canon EOS 1DX MK2 with the Canon 600mm F24L IS MK3.  Camera Settings: ISO800 f5.0, 1/640th of a second. I will be leading another workshop to this part of northern Finland in October this year for a small group of just six photographers (only two places remaining).
